Right, well, this whole Mike Hall business down in Luton... it just goes to show you, doesn't it? You pop off for a bit of religious work in Wales, come back, and some scoundrel's sold your house right out from under you! One hundred and thirty-one thousand quid, if you please. Probably some shifty sort, thinks he can just waltz in and take what isn't his.
And the paperwork! Forged ID, new bank accounts... the audacity of it! The Land Registry, bless their cotton socks, admits a mistake, but not before this poor Reverend Hall has been put through the wringer for four years. Four years! Imagine the stress, the legal fees, the sheer bother of it all.
And then there's the tenants! Sitting pretty, paying rent to…well, goodness knows who they were paying. And they expect to stay? Now, I'm a fair man, I believe in a fair tenancy agreement and all that. But they've been paying the wrong bloke, the revenue's disappeared, and now the Revenue's knocking on the door. At least the courts saw sense in the end and restored him to his property.
Honestly, it just goes to show you can't trust anyone these days. A good, upstanding parson can't even leave his home unattended without some rotter trying to pull a fast one. This country, I tell you... it's going to the dogs. We need tougher laws, tougher penalties, and a good old-fashioned dose of common sense. It's time the Government got a grip and started protecting honest, hardworking homeowners like Mr. Hall, not letting these chancers run rampant. That's just wrong. It's just... not cricket, is it?
