The Magic of the Moving Target

The Magic of the Moving Target

Few things in modern politics are as entertaining as watching a moral champion collide with a map of their own backyard. Back in 2015, Labour MP Rachael Maskell was high on the virtuous supply, cheerfully asking a crowdsurfing audience why anyone should care if local hospital wait times stretched an extra week, or if school classrooms overflowed, as long as Britain opened its doors wider to refugees. It was easy, elevated rhetoric—the kind that costs nothing when spoken from a stage and paid for by somebody else’s zip code.

Fast-forward to reality, and the refugee accommodation train has finally rolled into her York Central constituency. Suddenly, the soaring humanism has vanished, replaced by a hyper-technical obsession with sewage capacity, local infrastructure, and the proximity of an airfield to a primary school. It turns out that overflowing classrooms and crippled public services are disastrous local problems—just as soon as they threaten her own voters' property values and peace of mind.

This transformation isn't a surprise; it is textbook human nature. As evolutionary biology reminds us, humans are fiercely tribal primates engineered for posturing when the risk is distant, and territorial defense when the boundary is breached. Virtue signaling is a cheap, high-yield currency in political mating dances. But when the abstract ideal demands a physical footprint in your territory, the biological instinct to protect one's tribe—and one's political career—instantly overwhelms the moral script.

Adding to the comedy, the government is now floating the idea that wealthier, middle-class enclaves should absorb more asylum seekers to relieve poorer communities—even if housing refugees in prime real estate costs taxpayers vastly more. It is a masterclass in bureaucratic absurdity: spending millions extra not to solve a crisis, but to force moral hypocrites to digest their own rhetoric.

History shows us that morality is almost always a luxury good. It is easy to preach boundless generosity when the bill is being sent to the poor neighborhood down the road. But when the ledger comes due at home, the saint magically turns into a city planner obsessed with drainage pipes.

The Hypocrisy of the Parasitic Migration

The Hypocrisy of the Parasitic Migration

There is a profound, albeit wicked, comedic genius in flipping the mirror on modern multiculturalism. The satrical letter circulating online—where a hypothetical British Christian demands pork, loud church bells, and generous benefits from a host Muslim nation—hits a nerve because it exposes a fundamental, uncomfortable truth about human nature and territorial behavior.

Strip away our elevated political rhetoric, and human beings remain tribal primates bound by evolutionary impulses. Throughout history, when one tribe migrated into the territory of another, it meant one of two things: total assimilation to the host’s rules, or conquest. The modern Western experiment of "multicultural integration" attempts to create a miraculous third option where the guest demands the host change their domestic habits. When a host population yields its cultural authority out of guilt, it invites a subtle, parasitic takeover. History shows us that no dominant civilization survives by perpetually deferring to the demands of newcomers who refuse to adapt.

The satire works because it highlights the staggering asymmetry of modern tolerance. Eastern and Middle Eastern cultures historically understood territory and boundary enforcement; they maintained strong internal cohesion by demanding strict compliance from outsiders. Western democracies, crippled by post-colonial guilt and declining birth rates, have mistakenly treated self-abasement as a virtue.

When a minority group expects the majority to dismantle its own traditions, language, and public norms to accommodate them, it isn't "diversity"—it is soft colonization. Human nature does not respect unconditional accommodation; it views it as weakness to be exploited. If the Christian in the letter sounds absurdly entitled, it is only because we have grown so accustomed to seeing that exact entitlement played out in reverse across European capitals every single day.

Dear Muslims of the UK,

My family and I have decided to move to a Muslim country. We haven’t picked which one yet — we’re still shopping for the best benefits package.

Obviously, all my neighbours want to come too. And their neighbours. And their mates. And their mates’ mates. Before you know it, half of Britain will be turning up with suitcases and a vague sense of entitlement.

As a large Christian community, we’ll need a few small adjustments:

Please start building churches immediately. Proper ones with bells. Loud bells.

We’ll also need certain streets closed once a year for our processions. Don’t worry, it’s not five times a day — we’re not animals.

Every supermarket must stock proper pork, bacon, sausages, and baked beans. We are a minority now, so you’ll just have to be understanding and accommodating of our way of life.

We’re bringing all the dogs. Expect many happy Labradors shitting on your pavements. You’ll need dog parks, and you’ll need to smile while we walk them past your mosques.

While we’re at it, your religious holidays are a bit… much. They might offend the Christian community, so we’d appreciate it if you could quietly bin them. Thanks.

In schools and workplaces, our children and staff must be allowed to wear large crucifixes, eat ham sandwiches in the canteen, and generally radiate Christian vibes without anyone clutching their pearls. We also demand prayer rooms in every building, plus translators because we can’t be bothered learning Arabic.

If any of this is refused, please send a list of police station addresses so we can report you for discrimination, christianophobia , and general nastiness.

One more thing: if my kids burn your flag because England just won at football, please be understanding. I’ll give them a really stern telling-off. Maybe even make them write “sorry” 50 times.

Finally, we’d like generous benefits, free housing, and pocket money while we “integrate” over the next three generations. Work is optional, obviously also, we wish to drink alcohol and occasionally gamble on the horses. And in good weather we like to go topless.  Please bear with us. You will get used to it.

Appreciate your tolerance in advance. After all, diversity is our strength!

Yours faithfully,

A Very Reasonable Christian
